The "algorithm" can be a tricky, elusive, and sometimes random phenomenon. It can take people from pebbles to stardom in a matter of days, and take it all away just as fast. Most would agree that gaining an understand is difficult. This thinking is the crux of the problem, though.


The Almighty Algorithm is less of an all-knowing God, and more of a growing toddler. It is constantly being fed information, sorting it out, and categorizing it. As an independent artist, it's important to be proactive in building your online presence and to ensure that the algorithm is sorting you in the proper category and serving you to your target market.The information you provide it will then inform it on who you are, when you post, and what type of content you make. This is why it is important to be consistent.

Tip #1 - Post at the same intervals

It doesn't matter whether you post once a day, once a week, or once a month. The most important thing is that you stick to your schedule. If you post every day at 3pm, then everyday at 3pm you have to post. This informs your audience of when to come to look for your content and the algorithm when to send new viewers who would appreciate your content to your page.

Tip #2 - Have a Consistent Brand Image

People don't like unpredictable. We find comfort in knowing that at 7pm "Family Feud" is going to come on every night. This goes for your online image as well. Consistency helps your audience to easily recognize and remember your brand, and also shows that you are professional and reliable. This means using consistent language, tone, and design elements across all of your online platforms and materials. It also means being consistent in the message and values that you communicate to your audience. By maintaining a consistent brand image, you can build trust with your audience and establish yourself as a reputable and trustworthy business.

Tip #3 - Provide Value

  • Sharing helpful or informative content that addresses their needs and interests

  • Offering practical tips and advice on topics related to your industry or niche

  • Providing exclusive behind-the-scenes access or BTS content that gives your audience a unique perspective on your work

  • Creating engaging and entertaining content that adds value to their lives in some way

By consistently providing value to your audience, you can build a strong and loyal following and establish yourself as a go-to source of information or entertainment in your industry or niche.
